Meet The Maker // Brand Origin

Indriya Jewelry emerged as an evolution over 20 years in the making.

I’ve been a creator since my youth and had an entrepreneurial spirit from the start. In my teens it was clay beads and macrame hemp. But it really began in my early 20’s in my barista days at Tanner’s Coffee in Playa del Rey, California. I‘d make jewelry on the weekends, then have the girls I worked with at the coffee shop wear my creations.  With curious customers, I had fun little side business selling jewelry to all the morning commuters. (Fun fact: I even made a custom Rose Quartz earring and necklace set for Jeanie Buss, the owner of the LA Lakers!)

Later on, during my early years as a yoga instructor, I would pop-up in each of the studios where I taught.  That’s when the brand transitioned from “Jewelry by Jenni” to Indriya Jewelry, a word I’d never heard before, that I received in meditation only to discover it describes the “power of the senses”.

My logo is a spin-off of my yoga brand logo, an 8-petaled lotus flower reminiscent of a pattern you might see on a Hawaiian quilt. (You’ll understand these tie-ins better tomorrow.) It also symbolizes the compass, both for the outer world experience, as well as the inner world.

Have you ever taken a leap of faith?

Well, after nearly 20 years as a hobby, in late 2018 I began stepping more out into the public to meet a wide and wonderful community at in-person events, such as Makers Market and Head West. The response from those I met (perhaps even you) was truly encouraging and inspiring and gave me the heart to further this endeavor and keep creating!

I wish I could be everywhere, all the time… but in my next evolution, I’ll be scaling back my events schedule and shifting more more towards online and wholesale.

I’d love to stay connected as I make that transition!
